What is labradorite, and is it a natural gemstone?

Labradorite is a natural gemstone known for its beautiful play of colour, especially blue flashes called labradorescence. It is found naturally in the earth and is often used as a loose stone for jewellery making and collections. The labradorite described here is untreated and sourced from Canada, making it a genuine and natural gemstone.

What colours are available in labradorite, and what is labradorescence?

Labradorite is commonly found with blue colour flashes, which are the most popular and desirable. This shimmering colour effect is known as labradorescence—a natural optical phenomenon that creates a glowing or flashing appearance on the surface of the stone when light hits it. The labradorite mentioned here features a rich blue colour, highlighting its natural labradorescence.

How durable is labradorite for everyday wear?

Labradorite is a natural gemstone suitable for jewellery, but it is moderately durable. While it can be used in rings, pendants, and earrings, care should be taken to avoid hard knocks or scratches, as it is not as tough as diamonds or sapphires. The loose labradorite stones from Canada mentioned here are untreated and retain their natural beauty, making them ideal for careful everyday wear.
