What are the rough gemstones for faceting?

Rough gemstones for faceting are natural stones that are suitable for being cut and polished into finished, sparkling gems.
• Gemstone: Sapphire
• Quality: Facet grade (good cutting potential)
• Total Weight: 150 carats (lot)
• Individual Sizes: 2.00 carat up to 6.70 carat
• Color: Multi-color
• Clarity: SI
• Treatment: Natural
• Origin: Africa
• Birthstone: September
Authentically speaking, facet-grade rough sapphires are selected because they have enough clarity, colour, and structure to produce attractive finished gemstones after cutting. Not all rough is suitable for faceting — only material with proper transparency and minimal inclusions (like Slightly inclusion quality or better) is chosen for this purpose.

How much does it cost to facet a sapphire?

There isn’t a specific price listed for faceting the sapphire, so I can explain .

• The lot includes facet-grade rough sapphires ranging from 2.00 carat up to 6.70 carat with Slightly inclusion clarity and multi-colour — these factors affect cutting cost.
• Larger stones and higher quality rough usually cost more to facet because they take more time, skill, and careful planning to maximise weight and colour.
Typical costs (general industry range):
• Basic faceting — starting from about $10–$30 per carat for lower complexity stones
• More skilled faceting — can be $30–$100+ per carat for larger, high-quality rough
• Premium stones — especially over 5 carat, unusual colours, or tricky inclusions — may cost even more.
