Product Description

This is a premium 1 kg bulk lot of natural rough lapis lazuli stones featuring beautiful golden pyrite inclusions. The stones display rich dark blue to navy blue colors and come from Afghanistan, a world-renowned source of high-quality lapis lazuli. With opaque clarity, these rough pieces are ideal for carving, cabochons, decorative use, or resale. Individual stone sizes range from approximately 30 grams up to 175 grams, making this an excellent wholesale and lapidary deal.

How to identify quality lapis lazuli?

Quality lapis lazuli can be identified by its deep dark blue to navy blue colour, as seen in the stones described above. Good-quality lapis often contains natural golden pyrite flecks, which add beauty and authenticity. The lapis lazuli from Afghanistan is especially valued because this origin is known for producing superior material. With opaque clarity and solid rough pieces ranging from 30 to 175 grams, these characteristics indicate natural and good-quality lapis lazuli.

Which place was famous for lapis lazuli?

Afghanistan is famous for lapis lazuli. The rough lapis lazuli described above comes from Afghanistan, which is one of the world’s most well-known and historic sources for high-quality lapis lazuli.

Which country has the best lapis lazuli?

Afghanistan has the best lapis lazuli. The lapis lazuli described above comes from Afghanistan, which is widely known for producing the finest quality lapis lazuli with deep blue colour and natural golden pyrite.

How to spot fake lapis lazuli?

Fake lapis lazuli can be spotted by comparing it with the natural features mentioned above. Real lapis lazuli has a deep dark blue to navy blue colour, opaque clarity, and often contains natural golden pyrite flecks, like the Afghanistan lapis described. Fake stones may look too uniform in colour, lack pyrite, or show dye marks. Natural lapis is also heavier and cooler to the touch, while fake or dyed stones may feel lighter or look artificial.
